In a metalworking lathe, metal is removed from the work piece using a hardened cutting
tool, which is usually fixed to a solid moveable mounting, either a tool-post or
a turret, which is then moved against the work piece using hand wheels and/or computer
controlled motors.
Milling is the machining process of using rotary cutters to remove material from
a work piece, advancing or feeding, in a direction at an angle with the axis of
the tool. It covers a wide variety of different operations and machines, on scales
from small individual parts to large, heavy-duty gang milling operations. P.K. Forge
uses milling machines to ensure precise sizes and shapes.
